I write fiction with a strong sense of place, often drawing inspiration from landscapes in the South. My literary short stories have been published in The Southern Review, Blackbird, The Louisville Review, and other journals, and two of my stories have received Pushcart Prize nominations. I’ve been awarded writing fellowships and scholarships from Yaddo, the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, the Alabama State Council on the Arts, and other organizations. I hold an MFA in Fiction from Spalding University.

I’m currently at work on a YA novel, and I’m a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
